- Get a job. Fairly obvious, but you can make good money from tutoring, working at research labs, or even working at a nearby cafe.
- Do psychology research studies. You can usually find them all over campus and they're the best job you can get. There are no right or wrong answers, the hours are flexible, and the pay is good - usually $10-$20 per hour. If you schedule studies during your idle time, you can even earn in the thousands per year from that alone.
- Don't buy food. Learn how to live off your dining hall plan. Take steps like smuggling cereal out of the dining halls, or buy a coffee machine, rice cooker, toaster, etc to cook food at home (and hide it well if not allowed). Clubs also give out free food all the time, so learn their meeting times and know when to hit them up.
- Become friends with important people. Becoming friends with professors can get you free fancy meals, being friends with singers and athletes can get you free tickets to shows. Work your friends but give them freebies in return.
- Share cabs. If you take taxis to important locations (for example, the airport or train station) you can often find a student going that way too. Then you can split the cab fare and maybe make a new friend.
- Decorate cheaply. Why buy expensive posters when you can print them out yourself? Better yet, there's probably a poster printer in the school you could get hold of. Make decor out of cheap things, like beads you get at a party. Be creative.
- Reward yourself for some good money-making. Save up for something you really want so you have a goal to work towards, and then you'll really enjoy the item when you get it.
- Look in the area for a plasma donation center. They'll pay several hundred dollars a month for only a couple hours of your time per week. (As long as you can handle needles)
- Participate in online surveys. Make money online by participating in online surveys, and completing offers on online survey sites.
